It is available if you have the Active\u00a0Directory Domain Services (AD\u00a0DS) server role installed. It is also available if you install the Active\u00a0Directory Domain Services Tools that are part of the Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT). For more information, see\u00a0<a id=\"ctl00_MTCS_main_ctl01\" href=\"http:\/\/go.microsoft.com\/fwlink\/?LinkID=177813\" target=\"blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">How to Administer Microsoft Windows Client and Server Computers Locally and Remotely<\/a> (http:\/\/go.microsoft.com\/fwlink\/?LinkID=177813).<\/p>\n<p>To use\u00a0<strong>netdom<\/strong>, you must run the\u00a0<strong>netdom<\/strong> command from an elevated command prompt. To open an elevated command prompt, click\u00a0<strong>Start<\/strong>, right-click\u00a0<strong>Command Prompt<\/strong>, and then click<strong>Run as administrator<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>You can use\u00a0<strong>netdom<\/strong> to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Join a computer that runs Windows\u00a0XP Professional, Windows\u00a0Vista, or Windows\u00a07 to a Windows Server\u00a02008\u00a0R2, Windows\u00a0Server\u00a02008, Windows\u00a0Server\u00a02003, Windows\u00a02000, or Windows\u00a0NT\u00a04.0 domain.\ufffd\n<ul>\n<li>Provide an option to specify the organizational unit (OU) for the computer account.\ufffd <\/li>\n<li>Generate a random computer password for an initial Join operation. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Manage computer accounts for domain member workstations and member servers. Management operations include:\ufffd\n<ul>\n<li>Add, Remove, Query.\ufffd <\/li>\n<li>An option to specify the OU for the computer account.\ufffd <\/li>\n<li>An option to move an existing computer account for a member workstation from one domain to another while maintaining the security descriptor on the computer account. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Establish one-way or two-way trust relationships between domains, including the following kinds of trust relationships:\ufffd\n<ul>\n<li>From a Windows\u00a02000, Windows\u00a0Server\u00a02003, Windows\u00a0Server\u00a02008, or Windows Server\u00a02008\u00a0R2 domain to a Windows\u00a0NT\u00a04.0 domain.\ufffd <\/li>\n<li>From a Windows\u00a02000, Windows\u00a0Server\u00a02003, Windows\u00a0Server\u00a02008, or Windows Server\u00a02008\u00a0R2 domain to a Windows\u00a02000, Windows\u00a0Server\u00a02003, Windows\u00a0Server\u00a02008, or Windows Server\u00a02008\u00a0R2 domain in another enterprise.\ufffd <\/li>\n<li>Between two Windows\u00a02000, Windows\u00a0Server\u00a02003, Windows\u00a0Server\u00a02008, or Windows Server\u00a02008\u00a0R2 domains in an enterprise (a shortcut trust).\ufffd <\/li>\n<li>The Windows Server\u00a02008\u00a0R2, Windows\u00a0Server\u00a02008, Windows\u00a0Server\u00a02003, or Windows\u00a02000 Server half of an interoperable Kerberos protocol realm. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Verify or reset the secure channel for the following configurations:\n<ul>\n<li>Member workstations and servers.\ufffd <\/li>\n<li>Backup domain controllers (BDCs) in a Windows\u00a0NT\u00a04.0 domain.\ufffd <\/li>\n<li>Specific Windows Server\u00a02008\u00a0R2, Windows\u00a0Server\u00a02008, Windows\u00a0Server\u00a02003, or Windows\u00a02000 replicas. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Manage trust relationships between domains, including the following operations:\n<ul>\n<li>Enumerate trust relationships (direct and indirect). <\/li>\n<li>View and change some attributes on a trust. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[yframe url=&#8217;http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=YZmaVLaatY4&#8242;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Enables administrators to manage Active Directory domains and trust relationships from the command prompt.
