By default, the template for\u00a0<strong><em>Document <\/em><\/strong>is document from Office word.<\/li>\n<li>Put the new content type into\u00a0<strong><em>Custom Content Types <\/em><\/strong>group and click\u00a0<strong><em>OK<\/em><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Now you have created a content type with template of word file.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Change the template\n<ul>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong><em>Site Actions -&gt; Site Settings<\/em><\/strong> to enter the management panel.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong><em>Site Content Types <\/em><\/strong>under\u00a0<strong><em>Galleries <\/em><\/strong>category.<\/li>\n<li>Click the content type you created just now under\u00a0<strong><em>Custom Content Types<\/em><\/strong> category.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong><em>Advanced Settings<\/em><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Under\u00a0<strong><em>Document Template<\/em><\/strong> category, you could enter the URL of an existing document template. Using this method, please make sure you type in a correct related URL address. In additional, a more easy way is that creating an empty Office file locally and upload it as the template.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure\u00a0<strong><em>Read Only <\/em><\/strong>category is marked as\u00a0<strong><em>No<\/em><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong><em>OK<\/em><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Add custom content type into\u00a0<strong><em>New Document <\/em><\/strong>list\n<ul>\n<li>Enter your document library.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<strong><em>Library -&gt; Edit Library<\/em><\/strong>, as a result sharepoint online will open sharepoint designer in your local computer.<\/li>\n<li>Under\u00a0<strong><em>Settings<\/em><\/strong> category, mark\u00a0<strong><em>Allow Management of Content Types<\/em><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Under\u00a0<strong><em>Content Types<\/em><\/strong> category, click\u00a0<strong><em>Add&#8230;<\/em><\/strong> to add custom content type you created just now.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure\u00a0<strong><em>Show on New Menu<\/em><\/strong> is marked as\u00a0<strong><em>Yes<\/em><\/strong> for new added items.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Back to your sharepoint site, you could create several document type in the related library now.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Create related content type in sharepoint online Click\u00a0Site Actions -&gt; Site Settings to enter the management panel.
